Water Quality

Aqua-Swirl

The Aqua-Swirl Stormwater Treatment System is a custom engineered, post-construction flow-through water quality device designed to remove coarse sediment, debris and free floating oil by utilizing hydrodynamic separation technology. Aqua-Swirl technology is a modular high flow rate treatment system that has no moving parts and operates under gravity flow conditions within a single swirl chamber.

Aqua-Swirl systems are available in various models based on stormwater performance requirements:

  • XCelerator
  • Concentrator
  • Trash Capture
All Aqua-Swirl models are manufactured from lightweight high performance construction materials depending on project-specific location and needs. The small footprint design combined with these lightweight and durable materials, eliminates the need for heavy lifting equipment during installation.

Fabrication facilities are strategically located in the U.S., Canada, and England to better serve our customers by providing cost-effective and timely logistical solutions.

Each unit includes lifting supports and stub-outs for the inlet and outlet pipe to allow for quick and simple connection to the conveyance storm pipe. Traffic rated manhole frame & cover.

Inspection and maintenance activities are easily performed from the surface without the need for confined space entry or special equipment. A vacuum truck is typically used to clean the swirl chamber.

Aqua-Filter

Aqua-Filter™ Stormwater Filtration System is a post-construction flow-through water quality device custom designed to remove fine-grained sediment, heavy metals bound to particulate matter and residual oil by utilizing a treatment train approach. AquaFilter™ technology incorporates a hydrodynamic separation chamber (Aqua-Swirl™) for pretreatment and a separate chamber to provide filtration treatment. Aqua-Filter™ systems are available in two choices of high performance construction materials depending on project-specific needs:

  • Polymer Coated Steel (PCS)
  • High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

The modular construction of the Aqua-Filter™, combined with the use of lightweight and durable materials, eliminates the need for heavy lifting equipment during installation. Fabrication facilities are located throughout the U.S. to better serve our customers by providing cost-effective and timely logistical solutions. Aqua-Filter™ systems are typically installed in an offline configuration, but can be designed for inline (online) installations where allowed by local regulations. Each unit includes lifting supports and stub-outs for the inlet and outlet piping to each component which allows for quick and simple connection to the conveyance storm pipe. Inspection and maintenance activities are easily performed from the surface. A vacuum truck is typically used to perform maintenance on the swirl chamber while filter replacement requires personnel entry to the filtration chamber.

Aqua-Ponic

Aqua-Ponic™ Biofiltration System is the latest technology to provide a modular proprietary, permanent, post-construction biofiltration system. The innovative Aqua-Ponic™ design is unique when compared to other manufactured biofilters in terms of filtration, treatment flow rates and importantly, plant sustainability. While filtration is common to all of these systems, the Aqua-Ponic™ combines filtration with the principles of hydroponics – a method of hydroculture for growing plants without soil by instead using mineral nutrient solutions in a water solvent. That is, the Aqua-Ponic™ uses stormwater runoff as a nutrient asset instead of a liability. Terrestrial plants may be grown with only their roots exposed to the nutrient liquid, or the roots may be physically supported by an inert bio-medium.

A distinct advantage of the Aqua-Ponic™ Biofiltration System pertains to a reduction in irrigation to allow for potable water use elsewhere. In addition, the use of proprietary engineered filter media as the filtration and stabilization medium will accommodate a significantly higher water quality treatment flow rate than existing manufactured biofilters which favorably impacts sizing criteria. Lastly, using the hydroponic design approach provides a sustainable water supply to the vegetation during those periods of time when hot and/or dry conditions may prevail.
